Weather Policy

In the event of adverse weather or other emergency situations, the Wapakoneta Family YMCA may find it necessary to cancel programming and/or close the facility.  We will try to follow the “Level” system when determining whether to close or delay opening the Y or canceling programming.

The YMCA will use the same evaluation and communication process described under a Level I snow emergency rather than automatically canceling programs for all weather-related events, including fog delays or school cancellations.

*Snow Emergency: As determined by the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.

Level 1 or no-level:

  • All programming will be evaluated throughout the day, and any updates or cancellations will be communicated as needed.
  • YMCA will be open normal operating hours.
  • Child care will operate as normal.

 Level 2:

The Y may have a delay in opening or early closure.

  • YMCA programming is cancelled under a Level 2.
  • Child care will operate as normal.

 Level 3:

The Y will be closed; the 24-hour door will remain in operation.

  • Child care will be closed. If a Level 3 is declared while care is operating, parents will need to come pick up their child.
  • All classes/programs are cancelled.

At the YMCA, we are committed to providing our facility and services to our members whenever safely possible. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in the event of closings and cancellations.

Due to scheduling conflicts, canceled programs may be able to be rescheduled or refunded. The Y will make every effort to make up a class.

Announcements of closure or cancellation will be made through the following methods:

  • Facebook
